Once an unincorporated community, it became part of Miami Gardens in 2000. The neighborhood includes Amelia Earhart Park, which offers bike trails, fishing, and skateboarding. The neighborhood is also not far from Memorial University

Scott Lake

Scott Lake is a neighborhood in Miami Gardens with a population of almost 15,000 people. Located near the Florida Turnpike, the neighborhood is conveniently located and offers plenty of shopping options, including a Walmart Supercenter. It's named after the lake that offers both boating and fishing. 

Interestingly, more than 7% of residents speak primarily French at home, making it one of the largest French-speaking communities in America.

Norland

Norland is a neighborhood in Miami Gardens with a population of a little more than 23,000 people. It was an unincorporated community until it became part of Miami Gardens in 2003. Norland is convenient for both commuting and shopping, and it's also not far from Rolling Oaks Park, which offers playgrounds, basketball, and tennis among other activities.

Andover

Andover is a neighborhood in Miami Gardens with a population of just under 8,500 people. Like Opa-locka North, Andover became part of Miami Gardens in 2000. It's located near Snake Warrior Island Natural Area, which offers birdwatching as well as bike trails and picnic areas. There's also a dog park nearby. 

Lake Lucerne

Lake Lucerne is a neighborhood in Miami Gardens with a population of a little more than 9,000 people. Located just a short distance from both Hard Rock Stadium, which is the home of the Miami Dolphins, and Calder Casino, Lake Lucerne is conveniently located near a number of major highways, including the Ronald Reagan Turnpike and the Florida Turnpike.

Lake Lucerne is also a young neighborhood with the median age under 30.

Carol City

Carol City is one of the more diverse neighborhoods in Miami Gardens and has a population of a little more than 60,000 people. Up until the 1960s, most of the area was farmland. Developed by Julius Gaines, it was originally going to be called Coral City, but after nearby Coral Gables complained about the similarity in names, they changed it to Carol City. 

There are a number of elementary schools in the neighborhood as well as two middle schools and a high school; there's also a charter school nearby.
