Event Details
On Thursday, April 3, Fine Artist Rene Romero Schuler's solo exhibition, "Sounds of Silence," will open with a cocktail reception at Sardinas Gallery at St. Thomas University. The exhibit will showcase an entirely new, moving collection of Romero Schuler's expressionistic work, which explores her childhood feelings of isolation and loneliness. Romero Schuler creates abstract figures in rich textures by sculpting layers of oil paint, each of which exposes the struggle and triumph of the human condition. Her self-taught technique involves harnessing textural strata of paint, palette scratches and vibrant, jewel-like colors to stress the inherent tension between surface and depth while eliciting an emotional experience in the viewer. The exhibition will run from April 3 to June 30, and the cocktail reception is open to the public.
