Why

Gulf Coast JFCS' goal is for community members and agencies to integrate welcoming and affirming systems inclusive of LGBTQ refugees and immigrants.

Where

The event will be held at the Historic Garage in the Vizcaya Village (across the street from Vizcaya Museum & Gardens). Once the home of James Deering, Vizcaya employed people from many different backgrounds, including immigrants seeking to establish themselves in the USA, and in Miami as a developing city. Diversity based on race, national origin, and sexual orientation was a mainstay of Vizcaya 100 years ago. Today, Vizcaya Museum and Gardens similarly strives to be a place that is welcoming to all, where diversity and inclusion are at the basis of our operation as a place to visit or a place to work.
*As a Gulf Coast JFCS community partner, Vizcaya has graciously offered registered guests free entry to the Vizcaya Museum & Gardens directly following the event.
**2 CEUs for LCSWs, LMHCs, and LMFTs are being provided by the FIU School of Social Work (provider #50-738, exp. 3/31/2019)

Who

Gulf Coast JFCS wants to connect you with fellow service providers and community members. We invite service providers, therapists, case workers, physicians, lawyers, and community members to join the conversation.

What

South Florida is home to two of the largest populations of LGBTQ and refugee/immigrant communities in the country. Join us for a living room style event to explore how to create and improve welcoming spaces!
Will you be a part of creating a Welcoming Miami for LGBTQ Refugees and Immigrants?
